Malaysia AIC Top Competitors

Hi Skaters,

Well Patrajaya Malaysia will be the ASIANIC INLINE CUP race not to be missed, The current World overall track champion & 2 times World champion Nicole Begg will be present, hopefully fresh from World Games success.

Eri Marina Yo the Indonesian 2009 Marathon Champion & overall leader of the AIC will be accompanied by Sylvia Setiawan the 2008 Indonesian Ladies champion, so great support for the ladies event, lets hope the other skaters take advantage of the opposition.

Also great news Dimas Prasetya the Mens 2009 Indonesian Marathon champion will be present, he impressed both myself & the AIC marketing Manager Eddie Chua while we were in Indonesia, at their National Championships.

In 2010 around end February, its hoped a series of around 3 AIC events will be held in Indonesia.

On the Thursday 30th July, Bill & Nicole Begg will run a Coaching Clinic in Malaysia & are due to arrive in Singapore around the 21st July. We are very excited about the great Malaysian Venue on Patrajaya Boulevard & look forward to a programme of some great racing.

With many of the AIC stars from overseas likely to be present & are looking forward to seeing all the regular competitors plus the new Malaysian Skaters.

Also further details will follow about the AIC race for Chinese Taipei on the weekend of the 8/9 August, as we meet at the World games to finalize details.

Hi Skaters,

The latest rumour circulating is that the big man Andre Willie from the tiny country of Litchenstein, could turn up in Singapore & Malaysia to defend his overall lead in the "ASIANIC INLINE CUP".

The Jia Xing course was ideal for the big man & his fitness & strenth prevailed for an epic win.

The tighter compact Orchard road course may not suit the big man, but the Malaysian circuit should, with a man who lives amongst the Mountains, he may find the humidity a bit of a problem, but at about 2am in the morning, it should not be a big problem.

Hi Skaters,

Well as more top skaters come into the AIC a bit of more interest begins to appear, in the Orchard road race there will be $5,000 Singapore Dollars at stake Mens Winner $1,500 & ladies winner $1,000 on the 25th July Midnight race, in Singapores best known city street.

Already 3 Chinese teams will be comming, plus a big team from Hong Kong, Taiwan, New Zealand will also be there, at least 3 Americans, plus some Europeans, with both increased numbers from Korea & Japan, neighbours Malaysia will be present, but the latest good news is that 5 major Indonesian clubs will be presented.
Indonesian speed skating a long time not involved Internationally is Keen to hold at least 3 AIC races in 2010.

The night starts off with the recreation race, then there is the ladies & Mens half marathon AIC International races, it is hoped a few Non Europeans might compete after the World games, unfortunately the top Europeans are committed to the European Championships, at the time of the event. On the Tuesday evening Bill & Nicole Begg will conduct a coaches & skaters coaching Clinic in Singapore.

PATRAJAYA MALAYSIA

Malaysia does not even have a speed skating Federation, but its a very sports minded nation & will host an AIC event on Saturday evening the 1st August, this full on 42 km race will be for the purists 6 laps of a 7km course starting & finishing at Patraja Bouelevard, the main street of the Political Capital.

It has a gradual climb over & back across the Bridge over the man made lake & a testing 300 meter climb, before turning & heading back, an ideal type course for the Worlds best, with 1 good climb & 2 uphill drags per circuit
The Recreation 10km will not utilize the hill section, the Marathon will be preceded by the 500 meter sprint series & hill primes & sprint primes each of the laps, with 3,2 & 1 bonus points at stake.

Yesterday AIC Marketing Manager Eddie Chua, Manager Danniel Chua & Executive consultant Bill Begg met with Malaysian AIC partner Eusoffe Chua ( Not related to Eddie & Daniel) & met with very enthusiastic members of the Patrajaya Council in Malaysia.

We disscussed logistics & are pleased to announce that there will be 5,000 ringet in Prize money, about half the value of the Singapore Dollar, but in a country where food, Accomodation & Petrol are very cheap & about half the price of neighbouring Singapore.

There will be Free bus transport available on the Wednesday for the International skaters & also another bus Sceduled for Friday, returning Sunday morning to Singapore. The Hotel costs are being finalized now but there will be two levels available, we will have entry forms available in Singapore also.

On the Thursday evening there will be a skate Coaching & Coaches Clinic run by Bill & Nicole Begg, with the possibility of other Internationals also assisting.

A great Double up weekend, as all of Asia starts to open up their doors to the AIC & new nations appearing in International speed circles.

For Publicity & promotional purposes, its very important the organizors find out who from overseas will be preszent, so please let us know to have an idea, or drop a note on the forum.

On the 9th August. The final piece to the first year Asianic Inline Cup jigsaw has been found, with a Taiwan Marathon , preceded by track races the 8th August, so Singapore, Malaysia & Taiwan will follow the 3 weeks after the World Games, then two weeks later, the WIC Incheon event. So plenty of Action for the Asian Skaters.

ASIANIC INLINE CUP FINAL PROGRAM 2009

Hi Skaters & Followers,

We thank you for your patience & understanding, as at very late notice, we brought together the much awaited ASIANIC INLINE CUP.

Now for some clarification.

With two events held already the 9 stage programme will continue next on the 24th May with the WIC event in Incheon., followed by the Xiajing Chinese AIC event, on the 29 th May. (Note changed to Friday for main part of Festival, 1 hour from Shanghai Airport, please advise, if you need met, race after 2 pm on Friday, track races 30th )

In its Initial year 2009 we could not define the overall criteria, till we could finally confirm the number of events, which has now been settled.

1/ With Incheon & Suzhou WIC events doubling as AIC events, to encourage AIC skaters to step up to a higher level. In these events the top 50 placegetters will earn points, as per normal WIC top class criteria from 125 points down as per the winner. ( As Revised Begg 2007 )

2/ For the overall Points & AIC winner, only 1 of the 2 Asian WIC events count for AIC points,
with the worst performance discarded from the overall.

3/ For the 7 AIC races, the top 20 earn overall points, as per WIC class 1 (as Revised Begg 2007), with 60 points for the winner.

4/ For the 7 AIC events, the best 5 performances of the 7 count for the overall title, with the 2 lowest discarded.

5/All Bonus points earned from 500 (Approx ) meter pre Marathon AIC sprints will remain, in the points for overall honours.

6/ Same as all sprint Prime & Hill prime bonus points, they will remain in the overll points, no matter if scored in a discarded event or not.

7/ Those skaters risking losing in the final result for the race, by contesting pre race sprint series & livening up the events by contesting sprint primes & hill primes, deserve rewarding.

8/ In summary 6 of the 9 events count for the overall title, 1 of the 2 Asian WIC races & 5 of the 7 ASIANIC INLINE CUP races.

28th February Singapore TUAS Half Marathon (Completed )

7th March Singapore FI Track 42 km Marathon plus 500 sprint & Primes (Completed )

Hi Skaters, Sorry for late information & delays, but we have a number of confirmations & another strong probability which will take us through to 8 or 9 events involved in the Asianic Inline cup first season.

Remembering that to encourage participation by emerging nations in the WIC, the Incheon nKorea & Zuzhou China events carry the standard 125 points for the winner & first placed 50 skaters earn points, that make them eligible for the overal ASIANIC INLINE CUP.

Other AIC Races have points carry as 60 points for the win & the top 20 score points, also the 500 meter sprint series prior to marathons & the bonus primes during the race count for the overall points.

24th May - Incheon Korea WIC ( AIC Points )

27 - 29 th May - Xiajing China AIC ( will be confirmed in next few days, in this time span hopefully )

25th July - Orchard Road Singapore AIC Midnight

1 - 2nd August - Patrajaya Boulevard Malaysia ( a real top class course with reasonable 500 meter climb on each 5 or 6km lap ) Sat Aft or Sunday Morning, confirm in 1 week.

26th August - Zuzhou China WIC. ( AIC points )

1st October - Disneyland Hong Kong Half Marathon & 3 road races 500, 1,500 & 10,000 pts on 600 meter concrete circuit.( post Worlds, shop till you drop in Hong Kong )

4th October - Zhu Hai China AIC ( 90% sure ) as double up for Hong Kong, 1 hr 15 min boat trip from Hong Kong & adjacent to Macau.

The ASIANIC INLINE CUP is proposed to kick off in Christchurch or Timaru New Zealand on the 24th January with an AIC Marathon, During the week a "Tour of South Canterbury" will be Held, with an AIC Marathon on the Sunday to Finish, races will include the Saturday Wiamate sports carnival, where they will race on the Saturday on the 400 meter Cycle track. It is hoped the following week can start off in Australia, with a mid week race & a Double header Weekend.

Hi Skaters,

With in the next few days the Asianic Inline Cup site will be up & running, so all up dates,Rules & regulations etc will be online.

The rest of the season goes something like this. will be confirmed on site within the next week.

24th May - Incheon ( WIC Event )
30/31 May Jia Xing - China.
13th June Orchard Road - Singapore.
20th June Patrajaya - Malaysia.
23rd August - Suzhou WIC.
1st October - Disneyland Hong Kong.

There is also the possibilty of another in China & others in Taiwan, Indonesia & Singapore, to further sample the climate before a minimum 20 race season gets underway in 2010.

The 2010 season is likely to get underway in Christchurch or Timaru, New Zealand, in the last week on January & then move into Australia, in February, prior to going to Singapore. For early season racing & training plus Tourism, the trip down under to kickstart the season, is sure to appeal.

Latest update the June 20th AIC preliminarily scheduled for the Airshow Expo area in Singapore, could be held on the 20th in Malaysia, with the 21st the Big recreational social event in Singapore the airport runway, on the Sunday the same weekend, so with the Orchard road half Marathon AIC event at midnight on the 13th the weekend before.

Nice Words frown Aussie Down Under competitor on AIC.

Bill hi to you your good self and Cheryl, from Sam and I,

we enjoyed meeting you both and will keep the memories of our conversations for a long time. Arrived back in Oz yesterday morning after a week off in Bali, back at work and training.

I'd like to thank Cheryl, yourself, Max and everyone else involved in organising the first two events, for such a short time to prepare the efforts and results were very professional.

It was great to go to a major event and have it start on time, no confusion but best of all everyone obviously had a great time.

I'm sure my results would have been better had I brought my sunglasses and not be blinded by the Versace designed skin suits of the Italians, I'm sure that was a tactic. They were a great bunch of guys who certainly made me feel welcome.

Now to prepare for Orchard Road. Small favour, can you please drop me an email on peter.jewell@westnet.com.au, I have a small question to ask.

Again thanks to everyone involved. To those who did not attend (particullary the missing Ozies), highly recommend you make the effort, Singapore is such a great place to hold such events, make sure your prepared for the humidity though Sam took a few photos and we will post them in the next couple of days.

ASIANIC INLINE CUP

Hi Skaters, Just back from a meetting today, with the Sports Development & events management from Disneyland Hong Kong, with the AIC Hong Kong organizor Joe Yuen.

To fit in with after Worlds traffic through Hong Kong, a half Marathon around Inspiration lake, with 3 other events in the middle of the day, on a 500 meter track in a reserve car park, looks a big possibility for a 1st October AIC race in the shoppers paradise of Hong Kong.

So while not the ideal Marathon course, an 8am start for a half marathon AIC race around inspiration lake is a big possibility, the course has been used for the cycling legs of triathlons & will ensure that skaters would won't to force the pace, at the front on the highly technical course, with 20 or 30 bends. So lets hope the final all clear comes through.

The proposed AIC on the 20th June would be at the Airshow expo area, but some organizors are thinking of a Double header on the 13th & 14th,insread of two weekends in Singapore, at a meetting on the 25th March the calender will be resolved.

The Runway Recreational event is the 21st June.

AIC Hits the Big Centers & now Malaysia.

Hi Skaters, Just arrived back from 2 very interesting days in Malaya hosted by Eusoffe Chua, as we conducted a semina for Local skaters at very short notice & checked out the great road circuit at the Capital PUTRAJAYA, it appears as if before the year is out, that the AIC will run a race in Malaysia.

At the weekends traffic movement in the Malaysian Administrative capital, is virtually at a standstill, & allready a demonstration skate by Singapore skaters during the "Tour of Langkawi " cycle race, a race down the main Avenue starting & finishing outside the Palace of Justice appears to be on the cards.

It would incorperate a substanial hill climb for the top skaters in a 5 or 6 lap race, in an ideal course set up, the loop hill for recreation skaters could be excluded from there course.

In the most recent confirmation on Saturday the 13th June the AIC will break new ground, with a Mid Night race in the most famous of all Singapore roads & the shopping Hub of Orchard road, this race will also carry reasonable prize money. On the Sunday the 14th will be the famous Singapore Runway social recreation event, where skaters, runners & Cycle's all travel around the runways of the Airforce Base.

The following weekend the 20th June another AIC race around the New Airport Muesem in Singapore area & a likely 4 or 5 km track. The Hong Kong race around Disneyland Hong Kong AIC race, is scheduled for the 4th October post Worlds. So the Calender looks like this at present.

The next AIC race counting for points will be the Incheon WIC race on the 24th May.

Then the Singapore Double Orchard road on the 13th June.

Airport Musem Entertainment Center Singapore 20th June.

Suzhou China WIC race the 20th August.

Hong Kong Disneyland the 4th October.

In a scheduled meetting in 2 weeks time the AIC is likely to finalize the events for the 2009 Asianic Inline Cup. With later in the year races a strong possibility in China, Taiwan & Malaysia likely to be included.
There is an outside possibility that if possible on the 21st June, Malaysia could be included in a double header weekend, to capitalize on Foreign skaters travelling, already in the Region for the Singapore legs.
Although very short notice & the very early stages of development of Malaysian Speed Skating, the organization & venue availability, would be two Key factors, that could fall into place, to promote International skating.
Some sources in Singapore have been working very hard over the past 3 years to bring International skating to Singapore, so the Desire & Vision has been present & strong enough to overcome negative factors & get top class racing underway in new Asian regions. Singapore is a very organized Nation & is the centre Hub for speed skating expansion into the Southern Asian Area & including the isolated Oceania.

Hi Skating Media, Italian Masters Men take out Asianic Inline cup no 2 at the F1 track in Singapore, & Indonesia the ladies, with a tropical downpour the day started with the 500 meter heats for men, then the Womens & Mens finals, 15 minutes later the Ladies 30 km Marathon, followed 3 mins later by the mens 42 km.

As the Marathons were about to get underway the rain stopped, but the rain drenched track remained a bit on the slippery side. In the ladies Eri Marina Yo from Kalimantan Indonesia made very short work of her opponents, by winning the 500 meters, plus the 3 sprint primes & lapping the field to take maximum points, she is definately one skater wo could pick up points in full WIC races & hopefully she can get to Incheon Korea & Suzhou China to fully rest herself.

The experienced USA Global Worker Kim Aimes was 2nd in both the 500 meters, 3 sprint primes, plus the 30 km Marathon. Manee Chantakett Micro- X-Tech Singapore was 3rd in the 3 sprint primes, while in the 30 km she had to settle for 5th behind the 2 Hong Kong girls Elaine Suen Yee Ting & Lung Kwan both from Checker Sport Bont Hong Kong. Young Hong Kong skater Chan Sze Tim, withdrew but was rewarded with a special prize for the youngest skater.

The mens day started off with the straightline 500 meters with 3 heats & the first 4 Qualifyers going through to the finals. Hong Kong man Doon Yuen from Checker sport Bont was the suprise winner from Michelle Cicognani Italy & Daniel Chew Wee team Revo Shankel Singapore Santinder Pal Singh was 4th with Lai Yongquan ( Fast Boy ) Revo Singapre 5th, with Jack Ko Wan Hang provisionally 6th.

There was plenty of Activity in the sprint primes with Daisuke Kazamaki Schankel - Kazax Japan winning the first of 4 from Fabian Lachenmair Skatertreff Germany who proceeded to win the next 3 primes, Lachenmair currently based in Bologna was working well with the Italians Michelle Cicognani & Carlo Scalera, this experienced group was controlling the race.

In the last lap sprint 11 skaters only were in the lead group,the Italian skaters got themselves in the best position comming out of the last bend, with the Singapore skater Daniel Chew Wee finding himself outnumbered with no team support & losing contact with the winners.

A triumphant Carlo Scalero Italy roared down to the finish with Team Mate Michele Cicognani covering him, as the victory was set for Scalero, but 3rd place was the Indian Skater Satinder Pal Singh, there coach Hari OM Gupta & Manager Vinod Kumar Sefrawat were over the moon & so was Satinder, probably the first Indian to record such a high placing in an International Marathon event.

4th place went to Hong Kong Checker sport Bont sprint winner Doon Yuen, 5th the Singapore star Daniel Chew Wee Revo Schankel Singapore, the hard working German based Italian Fabian Lachenmair was 6th, the Japanese Diasuke Kazamaki 7th & if you think India was happy with a 3rd, then you had to see the Italian Stefano Lota 8th,this Veteran 1 year short of 60 found the conditions to his likeing & a very creditable 8th place.

In 9th was Daryl Chan Chiang from Team Bont/TSV Singapore who tried everything to break away along with his hard working teammate Terence Chew who ran himself into the ground working at the front & was 11th, between these was the young Indian Mohit Malik 10th, Australian Peter Jewel 12th, Peter found himself in no mans land & settled into a rythm to pick up a good placement. Thank you very much for giving space to the Asianic Inline cup, as we get underway, as & when we have information we will send it out, as you know I am very active at providing up to date information & always promoting our sport, around the skating World, I am sure we will all work hand in hand, to create a Win Win situation for all, with our sport flourishing in the current difficult economic climate.

Our sport desperately needs exposure,new members, new countries & exciting competitions, we will bring more of this into the skating World, as we go into new territory, promoting the standard with a coaching service & competition & by lifting the standard encourage more new skaters to lift the bar & soon & contest the big WIC Asian races,interlinked into our overall points system.

Already Coaching & possible future venue arrangements are being followed up in Malaya & Indonesia.

Asianic Inline Cup Stage 2 Singapore Saturday 7th March commencing 7.30 am

After a good opening to the first stage of the AIC & an exciting mens race, we await stage 2 which will be held on Saturday morning, on part of the specially constucted section of the F 1 Car race track. After the opening half marathon last week,the action starts to hot up, at 7.30 am with the straightine 500 meter Bonus points races, with 10 bonus points for the winner & 1 point for 8th.
The Marathons get underway at 8 am,with the 60 points for the winner, down to 1 point for 20th, but there will be 3 sprint primes in the ladies 30 km race & 4 in the mens 42 km. worth 3, 2 & 1 points.
The prime sprint points add into the overall points for the season, plus a Sprint Ace section,with the 500 & marathon Sprint prime points counting for that.
So in reality Eri Marina Yo from Kalimantan Indonesia, could well collect 60 points for the Win, plus 10 for the 500 & 9 for winning the 3 Marathon Primes, that would give her a Maximum of 79 points from stage 2, an effort like this would also have her leading the Sprint Ace series with 19 points.
It appears as if a couple of Singapore Females prominent from Stage 1 will not be present, but Hong Kong's Elaine Suen Yee Ting Checker Sport, could well be capable of testing Eri the Indonesian flyer, who has been a cut above the others to date, Former World endurance record holder Kim Ames USA has been working hard to get her sprinting Technique sorted during the week, to be more prepared for chasing the breakaways, Carmen Goh Kia Man Team Bont/ TSV Singapore had a good 2nd in last weeks AIC race & should backit up with a top placing this week.

Well the field is missing the Korean Kim Bum -Sik,the hot favourite from the first race, but both Daniel Chew Wee Team Revo Racing Singapore & Michele Cicognani Bologna Italy grabbed the Tiger by the tail & sent the hot favourite home, with his tail between his legs. But we have some very good new arrivals for the 2nd stage German Fabian Lachenmair who is currently based in Italy is a strong masters skater likely to add some fire power to the Italian Boys from Bologna,to try & capture race two, With Mirco Pancaldi an unselfish Teamworker & the crafty Carlo Scalero & veteran Stefano Loto,the Italians have the top racing experience over the others in the field.

Two others Doon Yuen Hong Kong Checker Sport & Lai Yongquan Team Revo Singapore have both raced at the World Championships, so they have some experience & class. Doon Yuen is a Multiple Hong Kong & British Champion, who represented Britian at the World championships,he has both speed & power & will line up as one of the favourites, with the capabitity of a podium placement.
The other Lai Yongquan affectionly known as "THE FAST BOY " earnt the tag in his young days, as he was the Boy who was faster than the men. His 2 year service for his country stopped his momentum, but is a very good skater & capable of an upset, hopefully he will be a Revo Teamate allie for Chew Wee in the race. Of the other Singapore Skaters Daryl Chaing from Team Bont / TSV Singaore, is a tough competiror & can never be overlooked, the Micro X-Tech pairof Lim Jun Liang & Bertrand Chew made the top 10 last time & will be looking towards an improvement, June was expected to be amongst the favourites & will have been dissapointed with droping off the leading group in the last race & will be looking for an improvment.

I am sure Japan's Daisuke Kazamaki from team Schankel - Kazax - Japan was not expecting to come to Singapore & only finish 8th, Peter Jewell Australia, Frenchman Jacques Frety & Edmund Tay team Revo Singapore, will all be chasing top 10 placings.

But the unknown Factor is the team of young Indian boys, anyone viewing the last 500 meters last week, knew that 13 year old Mohit Malik could have nearly stolen the race, this skater is the best out of India for a long time, as the twisty turns with a mixture of right & left hand bends suited the nimble & highly skilled Indian boys.
On thebig open & long straits of the F1 track many have written off Malik & his team mates Satinder Pal Singh, Rohit Goyal & Sarvpreet Singh, but do so at your own peril,in the straight line I have not seen any faster on the course than Mohit Malik, this boy is something special. Cheers Bill

Well the countdown to the October 2009 Scandinavian IOC meeting begins in earnest; it is the most important meeting our sport will ever have. Surely our time has come.Will we still wallow in mediocrity as a minor sport competing at the World Games, every 4 years, as a token gift, or will we rise to our true status?

The answer is within all of us, please act now.So this is the very first hurdle we need to jump, some well known countries have not allowed or supported their skaters to attend the World Games in the past, we must have full attendance of all of our World stars, as its those sports that have attended World Games, who have gone on to attain Olympic status.

Olympics needs some exciting sports, Walking, Greco Roman wrestling, Modern Pentathlon, are virtually passed by sports, then you have these added swimming Diving Pairs & synchronized events, that have slipped in the past few years, surely we have more to offer.We are a fast modern and exciting sport, tactically akin to cycling, that can enhance the Olympic program and do it proud, but the issues holding us back are plenty but not insurmountable.

PUBLIC ACCEPTANCE, it’s not child stuff, we are amongst the world’s top sporting fraternity, the changeovers to top cyclists and Olympic Ice champions show we are amongst the World’s best athletes.

TELEVISION, This is a must, some top quality professional films getting out for the viewers to see, this to enable the youth and the couch sports fraternity alike to embrace our sport.

SPONSORS FROM OUTSIDE THE INDUSTRY, Of course with television coverage the sponsors follow, we desperately need the big consortiums, who can back our World Inline cup teams campaigns, to all continents and corners of the earth.

WORLD INLINE CUP, We need a very successful and professionally run WIC, as a showcase of our worldwide exposure, to show everyone, what our sport is about.

COUNTRIES VOTING DELEGATES, Many did not understand our sport, last time it was presented to delegates in Singapore, are you doing your part? By lobbying your National IOC delegate.

The excitement & Interest is gathering very quickly, as the power of the Internet is understood in Asia,while many in Europe do not realize it is the many the media of today for most Teenagers & Business people. Lastnight we meet with Eusoffe Chua from Malaya & his skateline man in Singapore Edmond Vong, we will go to Malaya on Sunday & Monday for Coaching & view the venue for a future AIC race. Also a trip to Indonesia coaching in July prior to a very big proposed event in Singapore, about to be secured. All the Major World skating speed orientated sites carried the race stories & photo's, although initially small in numbers, but now it is snowballing & the excitements will see the growth & expansion.

Hi All, Yes excitment all around & yes Ultra Eri was just too strong for the others & in June when a big event will be announced, we hope there will be more opposition for Eri, but great to see Indonesia to the fore, a country with so much promise, but delivered little on the International stage up to now.

As for Daniel Chew Wee Team Revo Racing Singapore what a Bonus for Singapore, he worked very hard on his sprint in December & the Skin Fold Calipers spelt Diet, he has trimmed down a bit & what a race, he made breaks, Chased down Italians, Darryl a couple of Times & Daisuke several times towing others up every time.

With 300 meters to go he made his final move after he had reeled in Daisuke & left him, with100 meters to go he appeared to be blown & the several meter gap he had formed was starting to close up,he summoned a final burst holding on from Italian European over 40 masters champion Michele Cicognani on the Inside & the 2007 & 2008 Korean Inline Cup winner Kim Bum-Sik (Alias Tiger ) Micro Ex-Tech Korea down the outside.

With several km to go the mens race got down to 8, with Daisuke Kazamaki throwing in plenty of attacks, then he blew & a tired Darryl Chang Bont/TSV Singapore, who had been yo yoing on & off the back,made a last ditch bid to slip away, before Chee Wee made his move, Italian Master Carlo Scalera was 6th & Darryl Chang 7th all within 2 secs of the winner, 50 seconds later Daisuke Kazamaki Schankel - Kazax Japan arrived in 8th place. LimJune Liang Micro x-Tech & Bertrand Chew his team mate rounded out the Top 10.

Terence Chew Team Bont TSV Singapore was 11th, the Indian Rohit Goyal 12th Followed by 3 pasters the Italian Pair of Long Man Mirco Pancaldi & Stefano Lota with Australian Peter Jewel sandwiched between them. for 13th,14th& 15th, Sarvpreet Singh India was 16th 17th & 18th were the Team Revo Singapore skater Edmund Tay & Singapore based Frenchman Jacques Frety, with two more Bont TSV members Li Yang & Kim Teo Teck Kiang collecting the final points for the top 20 Finish.

It took 10 mins to sort out the winner from the Camera & another 15 mins to get a clear decision on second place, but for lackof experience there could almost have been one of the biggest boilovers ever in Speed skating, young Indian Mohit Malik 13 years old got blocked in, in the run around the last bend,with the tight corners 3 of the young Indian skaters very good around the tight bends left & right should have tried to attack earlier.

But at this level the Indians normally would not be expected to challenge for the top positions but Mohit Malik 4th, Satinder Pal Singh 5th, Rohit Goyal 12th & Sarvpreet Singh 16th was a great result & Coach HariOm Gupta, must be very proud of there efforts.

The second stage of the AIC will take place on part of the F1 Track in Singapore city,it will be a more open course, which will suit the stronger skaters & those who cannot effectively handle right hand bends.

Lets hope someone has a good photo Finish photo.

Singapore, Indonesia Victors 1st AIC race.

Hi Skaters,

New Emerging World speed nations had their day of Glory in the opening round of the AIC held on the Toas Track in Singapore.

Daniel Chew Wee Singapore gained a great victory in the Sprint over Italian Master Michele Cicognani, The European 49 plus champion & Sub World champion & the Korean Inline Cup Winner Kim Bum-Sik (Tiger) But a very big suprize came with 4th & 5th the 13 year old Indian Mohit Malik was 4th &team mate 19 year old Satinder Pal Singh right up there in the bunch of 7 with the final 300 meters to go, after Daisuke Kazamaki Japan finally blew up,

After Making several serious breakaway attempts by Daisuke, only to be brought back by Chew Wee each time. A very deserved winner, without team support, he made attacks, chased down all others & then lead out the final sprint with 300 meters to go, doing the Business to hold of the fast finishing Italian & Korean.

In the ladies Eri Marina Yo from Kalimantan Indonesia created a runaway victory, going alone
Alone before 3 km, she went on to win by over 1 km from the pursuing bunch of 4 skaters, Eri Showed that Indonesia need to be competing at the highest World Level, with a very strong performance. Carmen Goh Kia Man Singapore won the sprint for 2nd place from teamate Ethel Lui, with Masters skater Kim Ames USA grabbing 4th from fellow Masters skater Jenn Lui Singapore.

More details & results to follow shortly but the Big winners today were Singapore, Indonesia & India, not high on the favoured World speed shaking ladder.

Hi Skaters, A very pleasant Suprise today, as the visiting overseas skaters had a training run on the Toas track, it was obvious that the Indonesian girl Eri Marina Yo,is very strong & an International class skater, but to win the mens race basically you will have to Grab the Tiger by the tail, the tiger in the form of Kim Bum-Sik Tiger from Korea who looked very strong. Forme personally the most pleasing aspect was the Technical form shown by the 4 young Indians coached by HariOm Gupta, in December he was in Singapore for the slalom World champs & we were able to help steer him in the right direction & do not be suprized if these 4 skaters feature well in the results. Sarvpreet Singh 12 years, Mohit Malik 13, Rohit Goyal 14 & Santinder Singh 19 all showed a very high Technical level, with full crosses on the tricky right hand bends, plus good body weight transfer, plus fitness & speed. Singapore Ready for Take Off.

Hi Skaters, Parents, Officials, Sponsors & AIC Organizors.

Our time has arrived, the Asianic Inline Cup is ready for take off.

Skaters from 11 different Nations will take off for the first ever AIC event, to be held at Tua's Raceway on Saturday the 28th February.

It will be a testing time for the local top Singapore skaters, who represented Singapore at the last Asian Championships, Lim June Liang Micro X-Tech, Daniel Chew Wee Team Revo Racing & Daryl Chan Chiang Team Bont / TSV will be severly tested on there home ground.

Michele Cicognani Italy an over 40 years Master 2nd in the World champs, plus the European Champion, will test the younger men, plus his 3 Italian team mates Carlo Scalera, Stefano Lota & the Large man Mirco Pancaldi all love the sport & have a passion for competing.

But Kim Bum - Sik Tiger X-Tech Korea & Daisuke Kazamaki Schankel Kazax Japan are both Hero's in there own countries & both won big Marathons in Korea.

Not much is known about the form of the Indians, But Australia, France & Germany will all be represented by Master skaters.

In the ladies event the top Indonesian skater Eri Marina Yo may well start off as the favourite.
Jenn Lui Bont TSV Singapore & fellow masters skater Kim Ames USA a former 1 hour World recordholder have the experience & along with Manee Chantakett X-Tech Micro & Ethol Lui Bont TSV should be contesting the finish.

A further Influx of Hong Kong & Indian skaters are expected prior to stage 2 in Singapore on the 7th March on part of the Formula 1 Car race circuit.

DO YOU WANT TO BECOME A WORLD CHAMPION - BEGGSPORT CHECKLIST
1/ The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary.
2/ Get the dictionary, cut out the Words Impossible & Can't, as you can achieve whatever
YOU desire.
3/ Realism, "If its going to be, its up to me", yes thats right its you! It does not matter if
your coach is Mandrake the Magican, Superman or Billy Begg,unless YOU, YOU, YOU,
want it hard enough or desperately enough, nothing will ever happen.
4/ Do you have the Desire & Belief in your sport & those around you to be the worlds best,
but while believing in others, most importantly of all, you must believe in yourself.
5/ Can you be Consistant & Persistant??????, Consistancy to train the body & mind regularly
& put in the required effort each time. Persistant one or two bad days or bad results don't
stop you dead in your Tracks, you carry on in spite off.
6/ Are you familiar with the two " A's, Attitude - The correct one without carrying past baggage.
Arse - You have to get off it & away from that sport Destroyer screen of TV & video games.
All right for a bit of R & R, now & again, but not an obsession.
7/ Now are you in the Ballpark????? having understood numbers 1 to 6.
WEll are you prepared to live like a "Stotan", for a period of time? well what is a stotan you
may well ask, the likes of a greats Lovelock, Halberg, Snell & Walker, I am sure would know.

with no comforts.

Hi Skaters,

Nicole Begg one of the Worlds leading speedskaters, will compete in the event scheduled for ZhuHai China on the weekend of the 21 & 22 nd March.

One of the worlds top & most experienced marathon skaters, in the WIC ( World Inline Cup ) her record is very good 7th in 2004, 3rd in 2005, 2nd in 2006, 4th in 2007 & 2nd in 2008, also was 2nd in 2006 World Championships & 3rd in 2007 in the Marathon.

She will attend the event alone without team mates, something she is very used to, having been racing alone for New Zealand at 4 World Junior Championships & 3 Senior World Championships.

Hi Skaters,

Sorry the link does not seem to be workingb, but being looked at is a circuit at the Changi exibition center 3 km & 7 Km track & also part of the purpose built area for the Formula 1 car race track.

But the half Marathon for the 28th will be on the Motor Bike race track at Toas,near theMalaysian Boarder, but the 7th is possibly on the bigger circuit as more International skaters will compete.

Tomorrow there will be another meetting to discuss logistic details.

One of the things decided today, would be that it would be Individuals racing in 2009 & no emphasis on teams, that would be reviewed after the season ends in December 2009.

Hi Skaters,

Pleased to see a great deal of enthusasium amongst the Singapore skaters also, as the skaters strive toupgrade their sprinting techniques, for when the Asian Inline Cup kicks off. Singapore & Hong Kong, have in past time been well off the pace, when it comes to competing against neighbours Korea & Chinese Taipei, now skaters from both countries are excited & motivated, as a genuine Internation competition on a regular Basis will be available.

Hong Kongs top skater Doon Yuen will be about to represent one of the Hong Kong Based teams in the competition as a team leader, after representing Great Britian, at recent Worlds,it will comprise young Promising skaters, but already rumours of a top Japanese skater,joining the team.

Presently a top Singapore mens team could pose a problem, as there are that many starting to pick up, Daniel Chew Wee, Darryl Chan, Lai Yong Quan & June Liang are all likely to be pushing for a top spot, others like Roger (The Rabbit ) Ang, Benny Wong, Krabs, Tan li Bo, Edmund Tay are amongst others chasing the top group. With the Veteran & World competer former Russian Max Glazov compete or sit on the sidelines, as an organizor. The Hard Working Glazov & Eddie Chua,have been two of those most responsible for bring high levelcoaching & racing to this area of the World.

1/ No the ASIAN Inline Cup will not clash with the WIC Programme.

2/ The timming will be something like this for 2009 Commence in Singapore on the 28th
February with a half Marathon.

3/ The next Saturday in Singapore the 7th March
a) A mens 42 km Marathon. ( Including 7 Sprint Primes, 3, 2 & 1 Points.

d) A 500 meter top sprint race for Men, top 8 points, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1 point
e) A 500 meter top sprint race for ladies, same points apply.

4/ Note that the 500 meter sprint & Prime Sprint points are added on to your overall points
total & will determine the overall ASIAN INLINE CUP Champion.

5/ The 21st & 22nd March will see a double header racing weekend inn Hong Kong & possibly
ZhuHai China very close to Hong Kong.

6/ The Following Two weekends will see 2 races each weekend, in Either China or Taiwan, the
First period taking us through till the 1st week in April.

7/ During end of May till July its likely that 2 to 3 World Inline cup races will be held, in either
China, Korea or Singapore, any points gained in these events, will e added to the points for
the overall title, with 125 points for the winner down to 1 point for 50th.

8/ After the WIC, GIC & FIC finish on the first week in October, the ASIAN Inline Cup will
continue from the 2nd week of October, till around mid December.

9/ It is part of an overall plan to Develope the standard & the numbers, in a number of the
Asian countries, Korea is already very strong in both standard & numbers & other nations
wish to aspire to their level.
